Opportunity
The role is both strategic and operational. There will be a primary responsibility of handling all software development-related operations. He/she will coordinate and manage the software development process for all software projects and handle ongoing development-related daily activities.
The role will entail as well managing the strategic aspect of development operations and processes and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
The role requires the candidate to be extremely driven, having a strong attention to details and possessing excellent communication and leadership skills. In addition, a strong technology background is required, including experience in solution architecture, technology architecture, database design and software application design. Management skills, including project management capabilities, are required.
The role, which will be reporting directly into the CEO, will be part of the overall technology and development team. This role is very demanding, rigorous and challenging. In order to succeed, the candidate must be a highly motivated and exceptionally ambitious. It will require working long hours on a regular basis and at times on weekends. Job Responsibilities
Release Management
• Manage release strategy, schedule planning and communication
• Handle release schedule risk management
• Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
• Provide Weekly Release Reporting
• Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors
• Participate in daily catch up meetings with the Business Analyst and Project Coordinators
• Work closely with development, Quality Assurance specialists and Business Analysts to review requirements and define product designs, test strategies, estimates, and plans
• Manage stakeholder expectations regarding target scope, schedule and budget
• Remove impediments that hinder project or task progress
• Facilitate resolution of development blocking items, bringing in the necessary support to get issues resolved
SDLC Management
• Supervise the flow and process of the developers’ work from backend, frontend and mobile apps
• Own the overall development process and manage software development operations
• Analyze our current Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and establish the relevant and proper methodology (e.g Waterfall, Agile Scrum, Kanban, etc)
• Oversee and actively manage the workflow of the entire SDLC using the new adopted methodology – from product development, to software development, through testing and deployment
• Act as liaison with other stakeholders such cloud infrastructure architects, software developers and QA/QC teams and coordinate overall activities including on-time delivery, testing, production moves and follow-up when necessary
• Facilitate/participate in regular daily, weekly and monthly SDLC rituals across dedicated teams. If Agile methodology is adopted, lead, arrange and facilitate all Agile ceremonies including, Stand-ups, Reviews, Retrospectives, Grooming, and Sprint & Release planning
• Administer the daily tools used like JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket to enable implementation of the SDLC methodology and enter related task tickets on said tools in a prioritized manner and assign to owners as required
• Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress to all affected teams and management using new SDLC methodology estimating techniques.
• Ensure that development teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction and resources to deliver products and applications effectively.
• Provide training to team members as needed and coach them on the new SDLC methodology and manage conflict resolution
• Write and prepare documentation related to the SDLC methodology and other related procedures for general reference by all stakeholders
• Perform regular code reviews for the other developers and ensure code quality is maintained at all times
Required Skills
Software Development & Dev Management
• Advanced understanding of PHP (mainly PHP7 and higher), node.js and angular.js
• Advanced understanding of Git version control
• Advanced understanding of LAMP server architecture
• Intermediate understanding of HTML, XML, CSS & Javascript
• Preferable good understanding of the CodeIgniter web framework and Angular
• Preferable good understanding of the Laravel web framework
• Preferable intermediate understanding of cloud computing and AWS
• Strong knowledge in version control systems: Git, SVN, CVS and/or similar others
• Strong experience and/or knowledge with Atlassian JIRA, Confluence and Bitbucket
• Strong experience and/or familiarity with different SDLC methodologies like Waterfall, Agile Scrum and Kanban
Required Profile
• Bachelors Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Business Computing or similar degree. Masters degree is a major plus
• English proficiency
• Work experience between 8+ years overall and/or 6-8 years in a similar capacity
• Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability
• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
• Extremely high passion to execute well and insane ambition to achieve
