Fullstack Developer (React + NodeJS) (offline)
You:
- Are excited to work in a lively small team / startup environment that doesn’t have everything figured out.
- Have the initiative to work through challenges independently, but know how and when to ask for help.
- Would be comfortable working in our tech stack: Tailwind / Typescript / React / GraphQL / MySQL / AWS / Jest, Mocha, Vitest.
- Care about user experience and have the attention to detail to make software that’s a joy to use (with help from the design team).
- Are not afraid of big PRs and large parts of the codebase changing quickly.
- Are comfortable with producing thoughtful design documents, which the rest of the team will critically review.
- Can communicate clearly, directly, & efficiently, in English.
- Have references who will tell us (A) that you’re a treat to work with; and (B) how great you are at building software.
What You’ll Do:
- As a software engineer building a production software product, you’ll produce design documents ready for criticism, write front- and back-end code, perform code reviews, QA, write automated tests, fix bugs, think through security holes, etc.
- Your day-to-day work will focus on extending Blissbook’s feature set. Our 3-person product and engineering team brainstorms and debates items in the backlog, and then projects are picked off with individuals taking ownership over pushing theirs forward to completion.
It is a diverse product and you’ll work on all of it:
- content management (text editor & more)
- no-code responsive website design
- eSignature collection and reporting
- people data management & access control
- email & messaging that sends over 50k emails per month
Example Tasks:
- Extend an existing role-based access control system to add more granular controls, which requires refactoring existing application code, modifying GraphQL endpoints, and the migration of a MySQL schema.
- Implement a flexible comment box that repositions and/or resizes itself based on the number and proximity of other surrounding comments, using React and Tailwind.
- Build the UI and back-end of a messaging system that allows customers to email, text, or slack message various groupings of employees about different topics, both manually and automatically.
