System Engineer (offline)

We are looking for a specialist to be part of Digital Transformation Project of BSS/OSS. This is a big international project of transformation of business and processes for the group of telecom companies that are being built with new data technologies and IoT. The scope of digital transformation covers the following business streams: B2C, B2B and B2B2X. The main target of the project is to provide customers with the ability to be more agile, people-oriented, innovative, customer-centric, streamlined, efficient and able to induce/leverage opportunities to change the status quo and tap into new information and service-driven revenues.

Areas of Responsibility:

Participating in system studies and implementing features according to requirements, including coding, feature testing, and product documentation;
Developing and improving system administration processes & tools, automating them in a Linux execution environment such as:
• Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure related to a service;
• Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools;
• Proactively ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability;
• Monitoring and testing application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifying possible solutions, and working with developers to implement those fixes;
• Maintaining security, backup, and redundancy strategies;
• Writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks;
• Participating in the design of information and operational support systems;
• Providing 2nd and 3rd level support;
• Liaising with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Qualifications and skills:

• 3+ years of experience in Unix Administration;
• 2+ years of experience in Telco domain;
• Understanding of networking and security;
• Knowledge of virtual & clouds architectural principles;
• Knowledge of backup & restore principles;
• Relevant experience in a similar position, ex. System Engineer, Service Engineer, Network Engineer;
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, of Network related technology, DNS, Active Directory, scripting languages (Powershell, VBScript, Winbatch and/or others) and packaging tools;
• Good knowledge of ITIL;
• Experience or certification in Virtualization Technologies (either VMWare or Citrix or Microsoft);
• Good planning and organizing skills, problem solving skills;
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at international scale;
• Good communication skills and command of English (intermediate level);
• Stress resistance and ability to adapt to tight deadlines and dynamically changing priorities.

As an asset:

• Good and profound technical background (Network, System, Database) is an advantage.
