Data Engineer for Vodafone Global (offline)

We're looking for a strong Data Engineer for Vodafone Germany (via mVise). Project —device analytics platform. Flexible working schedule, full remote, strong international team, short interviewing process.

The project itself — Vodafone Consumer Products & Services (CP&S) develops ad operates Vodafone’s device analytics platform – NetPerform. The NetPerform back-end collects crowd-sourced QoS and customer experience data in many Vodafone and Partner markets and makes it available for a variety of use cases via its web front-end or data feeds to separate Big Data systems.

The platform — The NetPerform device analytics platform leverages cutting-edge tools and platforms around Cloud, Big Data, and Machine Learning and is developed in an Agile process using CI/CD tools. This includes the management of the tool- and script-based automation of build and deployment processes and central configuration management, while the platform is being further developed and operated in several data centers globally.

As a developer of our data analytics backend, you will make an impact by:
• adhering to architectural standards, design principles, data protection and privacy policies, and best practices
• working with big data backend technologies, such as Cloudera Hadoop including Impala and Kafka, as well as Google’s BigQuery
• interacting with users and stakeholders of the NetPerform solution and your team members to interpret business requirements and high-level architecture roadmap, and to translate them into design specifications, work packages, and finally implementations
• contributing to the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet market-specific and global business requirements
• testing the output of the own work and working along with QA team to fix defects
• working closely and collaboratively with the team and other stakeholders on continuously improving the working model for optimising the results in terms of quality, on-time delivery, and working environment

With these skills you will make a perfect match for this role:
• Deep understanding, profound technical background and preferably several years’ experience in software development, ideally for large-scale data processing applications
• Applicable knowledge and hands-on experience in cloud-based big data technologies, such as Google Cloud Platform (including BigQuery, PubSub) or Hadoop, Cloudera Impala, Kafka
• Programming experience in Python or Java or C# or similar, as well as standard frameworks such as Spring Boot, ASP.NET Core, and similar
• Knowledge of web-based and service-based architectures (REST)
• Knowledge of web security standards
• Experience with agile software development, continuous integration (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Git, Jenkins, etc.), and applying agile practices in enterprise environments as well as familiarity with corresponding tools (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) is beneficial
