Data Practice Leader (offline)
The focus of the company is on building ML Infrastructure to drive end-to-end AI transformations, assisting businesses in adopting the right AI use cases, and scaling their AI initiatives organization-wide in such industries as Healthcare & Life Sciences, Retail & CPG, Media & Entertainment, Manufacturing, and Internet businesses.
The role of a Practice Leader is the most important for the company’s Data practice because it is not only about managing people but also requires things to be done.
A Practice Leader must have sufficient technical experience to maintain and demonstrate the best market practices while keeping abreast of the latest technologies.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, preferably with our main stack (AWS cloud, Streaming, and BigData).
- Solid experience with tools like Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, etc.
- Experience with DWH (Redshift), Lakehouse architecture (Redshift Spectrum), and Data Lake (Lake Formation).
- Understanding of different DE architectures (e.g. Lambda vs Kappa architectures, Kimball vs Inmon models in DWH), and their Pros and Cons.-
- Practical experience working on ML/AI projects.
- Experience in team/department leadership.
- Relationship/team building. Leadership requires building and maintaining a solid and collaborative team of individuals working toward the same goal.
- Ability to teach and mentor. The role assumes providing employees with their career path and helping them achieve their goals.
- Diplomatic skills. It means more than just "communication skills" and includes ethics, empathy, compassion, and the ability to resolve conflicts.
- Calmness. People are complicated, and it is required to be ready for any objectives or misunderstandings.
- Participation in open-source projects and/or public communities.
Nice to have:
- Experience with CDC, Apache Hudi, and DeltaLake.
- AWS certifications such as SA Professional or Data Analytics Specialty.
- DataOps or MLOps knowledge would be a significant plus.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in AWS Partnership programs - AWS Immersion Day, AWS GameDay, Well-Architected Review, etc.
- Train, mentor, and share knowledge and experience with the team on a continuous basis.
- Implement tools that enhance data culture across many teams.- Research and introduce new, more effective data processing.
- Improve the company's technical stack and expertise in the DE area. Work on those improvements with Managers, Data Maintainers, and CTO on a permanent basis.
- Combine AWS Service into a solution with defined requirements.
- Understand and be able to explain advanced data concepts (e.g. Data Catalog, Feature stores, etc.) to other DEs.
- Understand data quality and be able to ensure it using the DataQA approach.
- Contribute to Provectus open-source tools (ODD, Kafka UI, etc.) as an active member of the community.
- Hire and onboard newcomers.- Conduct performance reviews, and 1-on-1 meetings.
- Identify and address team gaps in knowledge.
- Evaluate, improve and maintain processes.
- Сollaborate with other managers across the company.
- Communicate and follow the company's mission, vision, and values.
