Java Developer, Online Retailer (offline)

About the vacancy

Our client is one of the biggest online retailers worldwide with yearly revenue of £2+ billion. We have a long history of relationships and over the years have helped the client to develop web-portals and mobile apps, delivery control systems, staff management tools, data storage and much more. The systems we’ve built together work in production 24/7. DataArt provides consultation and development of the software for the client in both areas of their activities: online sales and creation of the cross-functional retail platform.

The team helps manage client's warehouses. They are the size of several football fields and could have up to hundreds of thousands of containers in them. Items are prepared on an ongoing basis and then get sent to customers, while new goods are taken to the warehouse. The team knows what goods are in stock and where they are. If you want to face the challenges of performance and high availability, then this team is definitely for you.

Tech Stack: Spring, Java 8, Postgres, ActiveMQ, Docker, Git, Gitlab CI, Kubernetes, AWS.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code
- Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
- Help ensure quality, organization, and automatization of the code
- Maintain performance, making sure all applications operate seamlessly
- Produce and maintain structured and reliable code in Java
- Locate possible bugs and resolve them
- Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications

Must have
- 3+ years of production experience with Java (Java 8 or Java 6 would be a huge plus)
- Hands-on experience with EJB 2.0, Spring, Spring Boot framework
- Hands-on experience working with Oracle DB, SQL, PL/SQL
- Hands-on experience with Docker
- Experience with Glassfish, Tomcat
- Experience with Eclipse link
- Solid understanding of JMS
- Proficient understanding of JUnit, Mockito
- Experience writing Bash scripts
- Rest API
- JSP, JS
- Familiarity with build tools such as Maven, and Gradle
- SLI/SLO
- Spoken English
