About the company: Cyberhaven is a fast-growing startup, trusted by some of the most well-known investors of Silicon Valley. The company was set up in 2016 and raised over $15M from investors. Our product is used by cool companies like Zoom, Motorola, Western Digital, by the U.S. Department of Defense’s DARPA agency (the one that created the Internet!), and others.
The product: We built a dynamic data-tracing platform which enables all data flows to be tracked across entire companies. Data flow history can be used to detect exfiltration of critical and sensitive data in real-time.
The technical stack: No legacy code, the product was designed from scratch a few years ago using the most up-to-date technologies. The product uses a modern architecture, a microservices-based backend with strict performance and scalability requirements, deep integration with Windows and macOS, and a diverse set of cloud APIs for integration with SaaS applications.
On Windows - C++ in the driver and C# user-space system, using a combination of APIs (ETW, Win32, UIA, etc.).
On MacOS - Swift and Endpoint Security Framework, and a lot of inter-process communication with messages.
Working Conditions: remote or office in Kiev. Flexible working hours. No time trackers. All necessary hardware is provided.
Team: 3 frontend engineers, 5 backend, 1 devops, 3 QA, 4 Mac OS, 5 Windows. All seniors.
Your key tasks on the project:
We’re looking for an experienced endpoint systems developer to help drive and evolve our product. Our technology is new and rapidly evolving, and you’ll have a chance to be an early contributor with a substantial impact on the product architecture. You will be solving multiple exciting technical challenges, including:
Design and implement components of our state-of-the-art system sensor that traces all data movement across all applications and files on desktop machines (Windows and macOS)
Solve challenging performance optimization problems: we’re building software that monitors hundreds of thousands of events while using less than 1% CPU
Design and build highly reliable code that never impacts the end-user experience
Build secure-by-design hardened software that must withstand real-world attacks, while processing untrusted data and communicating with a backend over the internet
Core requirements:
2+ years of experience working low-level system APIs on Windows or macOS (file system, network, process APIs)
Prior work on at least one large native application deployed to thousands of end-users
Experience debugging and optimizing the performance of low-level system software
Experience building endpoint security products — such as DLP or antiviruses — is a big plus
Experience designing and implementing application architecture
Experience with agile development and SCRUM
Experience collaborating with a distributed cross-functional team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Availability to frequently communicate with a distributed engineering team in Central European and US Eastern time zones
