The Role and Responsibilities
This Sr Software Manager position requires an energetic and self-motivated individual with excellent communication, organization, and technical skills to work cross functionally with other organizations (internal and external), who can communicate at all levels of management. This is a unique opportunity for a senior professional who enjoys a high-level of independence, visibility and responsibility.
This role will be growing a team in the Roku Ukraine office so ability to assist in recruiting and retaining top talent is critical. This role needs a person for whose people management skills are as solid as your technical skills. Critical skills:
Assist in leading software development for next generation consumer products.
Recruit and manage world class software and quality engineering team.
Provide technical direction, guidance, and hands-on management.
Work with product managers, program managers, and other engineering leads – communicate cross functionally and drive engineering efforts.
Look for opportunities to streamline process to make engineering practices efficient as Roku growth scales.
Experience/Qualifications
5+ years of progressive experience in a software leadership role as a Manager
Domain knowledge in digital TV, video, audio technologies and Linux based system a strong plus
Bachelors in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience (Masters preferred).
Extensive experience with embedded Linux and system-on-a-chip (SoC) development.
Proven track record of shipping high quality software on embedded platforms.
Ability to see the big picture while focused on short-term objectives.
Proven ability to manage external vendors.
