UA Site Leader \ Engineering Director (offline)

Papaya Global is looking for an exceptional Engineering Director to lead Papaya’s Ukrainian site which includes product delivery teams, test automation, and other functionalities. You will be responsible for team building, critical product components, providing technical leadership, and planning the future of Papaya's payroll solution. The Ukrainian team is specializing in managing workers using self-service applications and business logic implementation. Papaya is in a hyper-growth mode and has recently raised series D funding. You will be part of the global engineering management team and assume a critical role in defining the development methods as well as maintaining the high quality of the product. You will be required to operate in a modern technologies stack which includes React, Node.js, Java microservices, MariaDB, GraphQL, AWS/ECS, and serverless cloud environment using CI/CD environment based on Git/GitActions.

You will:
- Manage an engineering group with 3-4 teams
- Define, design, and lead the delivery of critical features and system enhancements
- Work closely with product managers, architects, and business experts to define a team roadmap
- Provide technical leadership for the local team
- Lead the Papaya Global site in Ukraine
- Set priorities and coordinate your group activities
- Work in a fast and agile growing company
- Periodically travel to Israel

Requirements:
- At least 6 years of experience leading large engineering groups
- At least 6 years of hands-on software development using Java
- Strong technical background as a software engineer in product delivery company
- Team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven experience building cross-functional teams of frontend, backend, and automation developers
- Proven experience as a software architect and in application design
- Experience in building enterprise cloud-based SaaS scaled products in a microservice environment
- Experience in building web applications using React or Angular client technologies over REST or GraphQL APIs
- Proven experience of product delivery using modern development life cycle
- Proven ability to drive end-to-end feature development, from design to deployment
- Problem-solving and creative, results-oriented thinking skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar field

- Experience collaborating with Israeli team
