Scala Developer (offline)

Project description: Development and maintenance of a Strategic Data Platform (big data ETL and Analytical Data Warehouse) for a major UK-based US-owned media corporation. The platform gathers corporate data (close to real time) from dozens of data sources and hundreds of data source feeds and consolidates it in a single Analytical Data Warehouse.

Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the data ingestion part of the Strategic Data Platform, including:
- Retrieval of source data in real time from various sources via various channels: Kafka, API, DB, structured files.
- Real time processing and transformation of the source data including standardization, obfuscation, normalization.
- Sending the transformed source data to the downstream parts of the Strategic Data Platform.

Programming Languages, Technology and Software Development Skills Needed:
- Solid Scala knowledge & experience
- Solid Akka knowledge & experience:
o Akka Streams is a must
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform would be very nice to have, or AWS, MS Azure
- Kubernetes (K8s) and Docker: nice-to-have
- Practical experience in development of ETL and integrations with external systems: Kafka, API, DB, structured files
- GitHub
- CI/CD (Jenkins) would be a plus
- Unit testing
- Integration testing
