Lead Backend Engineer (offline)

Job Summary
As a Backend Engineer in our MLOps team, you will work on DataRobot’s machine learning platform and actively contribute to the development of our powerful model deployment and monitoring capabilities.

The MLOps team owns the features of the DataRobot platform for operating models in production environments, coordinating the management, monitoring, and governance of all types of models hosted in all types of environments. We apply innovative data science and engineering techniques to ensure that models in production continue to predict at a high level and that they can be trusted by stakeholders to function without bias.

Responsibilities
Ensure Results and Retention of the teammates by conducting regular 1x1s, providing feedback, doing coaching and delegation.
Work closely with Product Managers and Data Scientists to design and implement new features to monitor production used models performance.
Do roadmap planning and resource mapping for the projects.
Lead projects and get them across the finish line within the estimated timeline.
Actively participate in features design and development.
Look for the gaps in the engineering practices and lead the initiatives to improve the development process.
Main Requirements
5+ years of professional experience writing software.
1+ year of experience leading an engineering team of 2+ people.
Ability to plan and lead projects from start to finish and explain your design decisions.
Great communication skills: ability to work in a distributed team, share knowledge and project vision with teammates.
Excellent knowledge of at least one programming language (we use Python but willing to work with an excellent Software Engineer who is able to quickly pick up language specifics).
Experience building production used REST APIs.
Relational database knowledge (we use Postgres).
Experience with distributed systems and queues.
Ability to think outside the box, but also fit solutions to your constraints (we can’t always pull in the exact tech, hardware, etc. that we want).
Desired Skills
Experience doing regular 1x1s with directs.
Experience establishing or improving the development process.
Experience scaling out the team.
