DevOps Engineer (offline) to $18000

The Vendor Data Group is part of the larger Core Development team at the company and is responsible for curating a centralized source of research and reference data for the firm to utilize. The Vendor Data Group operates in a very dynamic environment utilizing a sophisticated and diverse technology stack. The team interfaces with all aspects of the firm, from Trading, Research, and Technology to Risk, Middle Office, and Accounting – providing individuals within the group a full 360-degree view of Jump. The role offers the individual the opportunity to develop both business and technical expertise, while significantly contributing to our evolving codebase.

What You'll Do:

The ideal candidate will have a strong Linux background and have some experience with Python or a similar language. Building, maintaining, and improving our acquisition and monitoring platform will be the candidate’s primary focus (plus other duties as assigned or needed). The individual will be the point person responsible for working with our various vendors to acquire and store datasets, adhering to best practices, and making data available for internal consumption in a reliable way. The candidate will work alongside our storage and networking teams to make sure we are using the best hardware and software solutions for this task. We are looking for individuals who are instinctively curious self-starters, demonstrating the ability to independently drive tasks and projects to completion in a team environment.

Skills You'll Need:

Review and understand various datasets leveraging vendor documentation, liaising with external vendors as needed to better understand data.
Experience with automation/configuration management
Hands-on experience working within a Linux environment
Comfortable programming in Python or a similar language
Strong unit-testing / test-driven coding style
Willingness to diversify and master other technical skills on the job
Some experience working with relational databases would be a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
