About the Job

The Data Platform tribe at Oracle Utilities is a cross-functional team of application developers, big data engineers, data platform ops engineers, and data scientists, who ingest and analyze billions of utility data reads monthly.

As Software Engineer (Data Platform Analytics), you will work in an agile development environment to learn and collaborate with other tribe engineers on building, maintaining and supporting batch and stream data processing tools. These data pipelines generate some of our core consumer energy management insights.

You will leverage your strong computer science fundamentals to continuously add value to our large data sets and low latency solutions.

You’re agile (and not just in the buzzword sense). You know how to collaborate with your peers to navigate through a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and you enjoy doing so.

You are eager and willing to embrace the multiple technologies and languages employed here.

You are innately inquisitive, and have fun even while diagnosing production issues, because solving problems is just part of what makes you tick.

Basic Qualifications

Strong expertise in Java
Experience in building scalable / highly available APIs using one of the modern microservice frameworks – Dropwizard or Spring
Experience in delivering complex Java-based solutions, from technical design to product release and governance
Strong SQL knowledge
Strong expertise in data storage design principles. Understanding of pros and cons of SQL/NoSQL solutions, their types, and configurations (standalone/cluster, column/row-oriented, key-value/document stores)
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one of the scripting languages - Python, Ruby, Bash or similar
Understanding of Data Warehouse principles and technologies
Experience developing, maintaining and supporting BigData pipelines and solutions.
Experience in UI/Full Stack Web development
Experience investigating big data sets using Apache Hive will go a long way
Expertise with docker, nomad, Kubernetes, CI/CD
