Description of the role

Reporting to the Test Manager, you will work within one of our Kanban teams focused on the performance of our flagship application Dashworks.

You should have experience in working in an agile development environment, using scrum and/or Kanban and have a good knowledge of scrum principles and processes. You should also have strong communication skills and enjoy working and collaborating as part of a scrum team. You should possess excellent analytical skills, as you will be expected to analyse and test complex application features and business workflows.

You should have at least 3 years’ experience testing databases and have a good knowledge of SQL. You should be confident in writing select, update, and insert statements and understand how database table joins work. You will be expected to define and setup the data needed for our large data set and maintain this going forwards. You will also be expected to reproduce and retest performance issues and fixes against different data sets.

You will work closely with the automated performance testers in defining scenarios to be performance/load tested and decide on what data should be used for these tests. You will also be expected to analyse the results of our performance and load tests run in K6 and investigate and escalate any reductions in performance.

You should have experience in and understand different test types such as functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, exploratory testing, and user acceptance testing.

It will be beneficial if you already know about SCCM, Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange as these are the main data sources of Dashworks.

What you will be doing

• Analysing performance related user stories and requirements in JIRA and confluence
• Attending and contributing to agile meetings
• Collaborating with the product owner, developers, and testers within your Kanban team and the wider department.
• Defining and creating test data for performance testing purposes
• Testing performance enhancements and fixes
• Writing and executing manual regression tests in TestRail
• Defining performance and load test scenarios
• Raising and managing bugs in JIRA
• Installation/upgrade testing of our application in preparation for release

What skills you’ll bring to the role

• At least 3 years’ experience testing databases
• Good level of spoken and written English
• Good SQL knowledge
• Experience in creating and maintaining test data for large data sets
• Experienced in writing test scenarios/acceptance criteria
• Experience working in a Scrum, Kanban or another Agile approach
• JIRA (or other similar agile management tools)

Some other relevant (but not essential) skills

• SCCM, Active Directory and MS Exchange/Office 365 experience
• Experience in performance/load testing using K6 or other similar tool
• JavaScript
• Experience of using Azure DevOps

Job Location & Hours:

The role will be performed remotely. You will be expected to provide and maintain your own equipment and internet connection to allow you to work from home and connect to our VPN i.e. PC, Microsoft Teams and broadband. Once connected to our office there are servers and virtual machines available for you to use.
