Join a funded start-up in the Product Management space to help Product Professionals enhance their careers. We're looking for a Principle Software Engineer that can help us define the architecture of the new application from day 1.

Brainmates has been the home of Product Management in Australia since 2004.

Our mission is to provide experienced Product Management to businesses that want to truly understand their customers’ needs, so they can develop innovative products their customers love.

Our three pillars are: Training, Consulting, and Community.

We have trained thousands of people around the world to be superstar Product Managers and helped hundreds of the Asia Pacific’s leading businesses to be more successful by solving their Product problems. We love sharing our expertise and enthusiasm for Product with our 10,000+ community of warm, collaborative, geeky Product people.

We also run Leading the Product, Australia’s favourite Product Management Conference.

About You:

You have at least 6 years experience as a software engineer and experience in delivering products to market from scratch, and those 6 years have taught you a lot about how products are built. Bonus points if you’ve built your own product before.

You can design and develop the application and architecture for digital products on a high-level, but also roll up your sleeves and get involved in the nuts-and-bolts to get projects built.

You have experience developing enterprise scale, secured applications but you’re keen to move into the scrappy start-up world in order to get in early and make your mark on a product and business. You have a good overview of all the pieces of a puzzle that would make up a good application. You’re a builder.

About the role:

Brainmates is building a number of software tools and applications in the coming year. This role will work across the various products to develop the overall architecture of each. The first project this role will deliver is an exciting bespoke piece of intellectual property powered by an algorithm that you will author.

To deliver this, you’ll create the architecture and logic to develop the IP and expose it through a micro-service for display via a front-end application. Developing this IP is core to our business and where most of your time will be spent. You’ll also play a role in developing the framework and architecture for the front-end service.

This is a small team, so you’ll be involved in many areas. We’re looking for broad T-skilled people who know enough about a wide variety of languages and frameworks to know what best to implement in which situation. This is not a role that manages a team of 50+ people, but one that is made for someone that loves to build and develop great products.

This role will report to the Chief Product Officer and is based remotely from anywhere in the world. You will work with a product manager, UI/UX and full stack developer to help to deliver the initial feature set of our MVP/MMP to market.

We are a small business with a clear strategy to grow into a large organisation. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to get in early and grow with the company.
