Senior Python full-stack developer (offline)

BMC Discovery is a foundational component of the BMC’s suite of enterprise solutions.
This role is to join the R&D team responsible for building and maintaining the BMC Discovery
product.
About the team: We are a small R&D team within BMC Software, based in Victoria in London, with
associates in France and Ukraine. The team consists of 8 QA engineers and 17 Developers. We are
passionate about the product we build and place quality and customer satisfaction as our top
priorities. We also believe that working in the team should be enjoyable and to this end, we have an
excellent working environment a relaxed atmosphere and we have regular ‘innovation days’ where
everyone works on side projects. We believe a happy team is a productive team.
About you: You love what you do as a developer. Software development is your passion and you
have strong opinions on how code is written and can defend those opinions. You care about the
code you write and are proud of the resulting systems that make life easier for end-users. You have
experience in maintaining bad code, so you prioritize making code maintainable. You believe in
software quality and a test-driven approach. You know you don’t have all the answers, so you like to
work in collaboration with other great developers. You have a sense of humor and want to work to
be enjoyable and well as productive.

Requirements:

- Excellent communicator with upper mid to advanced English language
- Experienced python software developer in an agile development team
- BMC mainly codes in Python, but there is also a little C++ and a growing amount of JavaScript on the frontend
- Broad range of skills and knowledge of shell scripting and network protocols would be advantageous
- Skilled developer who can write clean efficient code and is passionate about code quality, testing and loves to develop new things
- You will create automated bleeding edge builds using the latest committed code and create a public ‘pre-release’ at the end of each sprint

Some additional nice to have skills:
- Experience using and interacting with Python
- Kubernetes, Docker, Containers in general
- Software as a service (SaaS) in general
- Experience with graph databases

Responsibilities:

- Research and design new features and well as fixing bugs
- Document design decisions
- Write unit tests
- Write and test clean, module, well-commented code
- Review code from other developers
- Engage early with QA engineers
- Attend and contribute to the daily stand-up
