Senior python developer for product-focused B2C creative tech startup (offline)

About the company: Visualist is a web-based platform for designers. We unlock value in your creative process when you most need it. Visualist is a creative library and workspace bundled into one.

Tech stack: React, Python/Django REST Framework, PostgreS, AWS, Heroku

We're looking for a senior python back-end developer to help us rapidly scale our product.

What you'll do:
- (Initially) Conduct code review and implement architectural improvements
- Drive software engineering best practices, including good documentation
- Design and maintain relational database systems
- Research and implement AI and computer vision solutions
- Integrate third party APIs

Who we're looking:
- Experience being sole technical team member or technical lead
- Comfortable owning and driving product development

- Thrive on solving challenging problems
- Bonus if you're comfortable working on front-end (but not a requirement)

How we work:
- We try to implement a structured product development process, modelled after Basecamp's Shape Up method.
- We use Slack & ClickUp for communication and project tracking.
- Flexible hours (minimum 4 hours working time overlap with UK).

Note: 3-month contract initially, with potential for full-time remote work after.

Our target audience are: interior designers, fashion stylists, creative directors, branding and graphic designers, and other creatives.

- Auto-tagging and colour swatching: Anything that is uploaded to Visualist is immediately tagged with keywords and swatches. P.S. We developed our own colour algorithm.
- Effortless organisation: Users can sort, search, and find however they like.
- Make moodboards easily: Creatives love making moodboards. We love making it easy for them, with features like Tidy Up and Magic Eraser.
- Add stickies: Drop comments anywhere on a block to leave notes for yourself (private) or others (public)
