Platform (Python) Engineer (offline)

Madefire’s Motion BookTM publishing platform comprises a comprehensive suite of creative authoring tools, content ingestion services, content publishing systems, a digital marketplace and a broad variety of web-based, mobile, desktop and embedded clients.

The Platform Engineer will oversee the expansion and refinement of these systems with a focus on security, reliability and simplicity as Madefire expands its product offering, grows its engineering team and targets a larger audience with its growing library of digital content.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years experience and proficiency in the following languages, frameworks, tools and disciplines:

* Python
* Django (including Django REST Framework and Django Management Commands)
* Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, ELB, EBS, CloudFront, ElastiCache, Route 53, IAM, RDS)
* RESTful API Design
* Data Modeling and Database Management (MySQL)
* Messaging and Task Queues (Celery, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS)
* Network Security
* Continuous Integration and Deployment (Cirle CI, Fabric)
* Test-Driven Development
* Source Code Management (Git, GitHub)

The Platform Engineer will establish engineering processes, optimize developer workflows, automate routine tasks and safeguard critical operations.
They will contribute to ongoing product feature development and actively contribute to product and engineering infrastructure roadmaps.

The ideal candidate should have experience

* Building and maintaining scalable, reliable, secure RESTful web services
* Optimizing delivery of static and dynamic content (caching, CDNs, etc.)
* Integrating SaaS billing, e-mail gateways and other third-party solutions
* Configuring and administering Linux-based servers
* Analyzing logs and optimizing system performance
