Your role
Currently we are looking foremost for a senior backend developer who can help us evolve our event management software. Your work will include:
Building new features into Earlybird, our bespoke event management platform that powers the TNW Conference and other TNW events.
Implementing clean, RESTful APIs that can be consumed by our mobile networking application.
Ensuring high quality, testable, and secure code is deployed to a system that provides a high revenue source to the business.
Considering where synergies between our platforms can occur to better the user experience and the business.
This means we are looking for someone that:
Is fluent in web development and can write clean, readable, reusable, and scalable PHP (experience with Laravel is a big plus).
Can take ownership of the product on the technical side while collaborating closely with our infrastructure, product and mobile developers to develop a top-notch solution.
Knows their way around databases (we use mysql, postgresql, and elastic), and ways to optimise schemas and queries to handle global traffic.
Ideally has experience with working in ecommerce platforms, including integration with payment gateways (but this is not a requirement).
Besides working on our event management platform Earlybird, you will have the opportunity to help out and lead other TNW projects. If you are into devops you can help us with our migration to GCP and set up those sweet deployment pipelines. If you like frontend development you can help us with our new content platform. Is data and machine learning your thing? Get involved with Index, our big data platform. There is plenty of opportunities on all projects across TNW!
About TNW
In 2006, founders Boris and Patrick were looking for a tech event to showcase their new startup. When they couldn’t find one that checked all the boxes they decided to host their own. As they were organizing things, they soon realized they needed somewhere to promote the conference, and that’s how thenextweb.com was launched. It later became a blog and the result is what you are looking at right now.
TNW was started to bring insight, meaning—and every now and again, the lulz—to the world of technology. But we didn’t want to stop there. Today the company has grown from those two parts to four pillars that brought forth TNW News, TNW Deals, TNW Conference and Events, our new tech hub called TQ and Index, our market intelligence platform.
