Database Administrator (offline)

Position Responsibilities:

- Set up and maintain monitors on all relevant metrics generated by production systems;
- Work proactively to identify areas of cost inefficiency, develop mitigation plans, and execute on them;
- Contribute to a knowledge base of best practices for development teams and business units across the organization;
- Work closely with the DevOps, SecOps and Business Intelligence members to provide support in regards to best practices for data architecture;
- Have complete ownership of the database systems through the company;
- Provide monthly cost captures for all data related resources and services on a per customer basis;
- Develop and maintain documentation for all assigned responsibilities, processes, and procedures;
- Assist in organizing internal audit and disaster recovery exercises as required;
- Managing 3rd party tools and auditing their usage as required;
- Participate daily standups with the Operations team, as well as regular meetings with the Infrastructure guild;
- Support the Infrastructure Guild as required;
- Perform other duties as required by the Operations Lead.

Core Skiils/Expirience:

- Bachelor degree in Computer Science;
- 2+ years relevant experience in a similar role (DBA, Database Engineer, etc.);
- Experience in writing software in on of more of the following: Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, PHP;
- Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle;
- Experience with database administration techniques, in particular with relational databases and data schemas;
- Experience with data migration strategies and moving large scale production systems either in on-premise / data center environments or migration to cloud scenarios;
- Experience with database management tools for backups, recovery, snapshot management, sharding, partitioning. Experience with database performance tuning;
- Experience working with cloud databases such as RDS, Aurora, DynamoDb, ElastiCache;
- Experience developing ELT or ETL workflows (Kinesis or equivalent would be an asset).
